Snap provided a unique perspective on Kygo's upcoming performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza through the use of the company's AR lens technology. While Snap had previously launched festival-centric AR lens content around major electronic music events like EDC Las Vegas last year, Kygo's partnership signifies an exciting evolution in this technology. In the past, Snap's AR lenses were tailored specifically to the event and remained consistent throughout its duration. However, Kygo's lens introduced a dynamic display evolution during the set, featuring over 25 different scenes based on the music he's playing at any given moment. "Kygo is a highly innovative artist who is always pushing the boundaries of how an audience can experience a live DJ set, so it was a no-brainer to bring Snap’s augmented reality to his shows this summer," stated Manny Adler, the company's Head of Music Partnerships. "We’re delivering a new Snapchat Lens synced in real-time to his performance, enabling a fan’s phone to bring them deeper into the experience without taking them out of the moment." This project garnered a significant amount of press coverage.

For this project, we leaned heavily on Cinema 4D to bring the visuals to life. Surprisingly, all the camera tracking was handled directly within C4D, which streamlined the workflow more than expected. After rendering, we pulled everything into After Effects for compositing and wrapped up the final edit in Premiere Pro. A tight, efficient pipeline from 3D to edit.
